Car Air Conditioning Services
Autolock have been providing specialist advice, service and repair of a diverse range of makes and models of car Air Conditioning systems since 1980. We are happy to provide you with a free-of-charge check for your vehicle's Air Con system.
Need a re-gas?
Yes systems can lose pressure over time, especially if they are not used (see Top Tip below). Be sure that we won't recharge your system unless we think it’s worth it – checks include a pressure test if it’s completely void of gas. Only then do we re-gas, also adding leak detection fluid for you.
More than just a re-gas?
Our experience with Car Air Conditioning means that we can deal with specialist Air Con Diagnostics and Leak Detection, unlike other garages – we can find the specific problem and repair it in a cost effective manner, rather than just opting for expensive complete replacements.
Top Tip
Air Conditioning systems can be as useful in Autumn and Winter as they are in Summer - to quickly clear misting windscreens.
Air-Conditioning should be used regularly through the whole year to prevent leaks.
Latest Air Con Refrigerant
For owners of vehicles that have the new environmentally friendly type of Air Con system - Autolock is equipped to service AC systems with the new HFO-1234yf (R-1234yf) refrigerant.
Why the difference? As the automotive industry moves towards a greener future, the US EPA has approved the new R-1234yf refrigerant for use in new vehicles. As such, vehicle manufactures have been phasing in new AC systems to take the R-1234yf refrigerant since 2014. Note: Newer vehicles with this system are not compatible old R134a gas and older systems are not capable of being charged with the new gas.
What’s the benefit? The new refrigerant has a global warming impact value of 1 versus 1300 for the old type. This means it breaks down chemically in the atmosphere in only 11 days versus 13 years for R134a!
